doing what he loves and making it work - Vinay Pittampally

"Follow your dream" is the most popular theme of this past one and a half decade. If you look back at our lives, many people plunged into things they love and began enjoying it. And Ranbeer Kapoor fed us the dream systematically throughout his career too. In fact, "Follow your dream" can sum up most of his movies.

And whenever one watches such movies, they are in a reverie for days and then google some quotes, paste it on different forms of social media, wonders about the feasibility of it and resumes their job they "have" to do. Which is fine. If that suits you and you don't bicker about it saying "One has to be rich, to do what they love." or "One has to be really lucky in life." etc...etc..

No. You don't. You can bust your ass, parallelly or you can reduce some non-value adding activities and pursue your dreams. Or you can take the plunge.

Like Vinay P who believes: Follow your dreams. You will never get lost.

He exemplifies the anthem: Bacha kabil bano..

Vinay is an Engineer (a pretty good one) but was not happy doing it.

"So, I took a one-eighty-degree turn following my heart. Back to being that kid who loves to scribble. Now, I'm happy. I don't know what else matters?"

A man with an action plan, he worked on his art further, collaborated with people, participated in online, offline events, and eventually landed himself into being long listed at the World Illustration Award by Association of Illustrators in 2020 for his work: Syncing Deep. It reminded me of the movie "searching.." by Aneesh Chaganty. The illustration, a clever play on shadow and light, depicts the modern Biblical Flood: The social media addiction.

He composed this on his phone and illustrated on the application, Procreate (for those of who who are wondering how he did it).

I was curious on how did this award happen for I was blindsided to the fact that one can actually work his or her ay through things without sitting on the shoulders of the giant (remember that popular quote?) but Vinay added a different layer of perspective: He just let his art into the world.
He says, "It started with a 'Why not?' and surprisingly my illustration Syncing deep went a long way. The brief wasn't too defined and of course, it's a very competitive space to enter. I had a lot of ideas to consider. But, I felt something strongly relatable and universal might do. It worked."

And, that's what resonates in Vinay's themes: the art is real. there is resistance displayed. he depicts lives, relationships, memories, travel in his work.

This is my favourite:

I love the detailing of the "bowl" or the "mushroom" hair cut. Vinay also does these tiny videos which are like finger food for the soul. You can access more of his works on his web site. His work also got published in Designers Against Coronavirus (DAC) published by Italian Red cross

Note: This post is to show what can one determined human do when one sets their mind to it.

Thank you, Vinay for obliging to my request and answering my questions via email.
