Abhigyan, Book Cafe, and Nivasini

They say,
"theen thigada kaam bigada" (or something on those lines)

Three people - represent the forces of our life - maintenance, sustenance and destruction and like our emblem, there is a fourth source: the creation (feminine or masculine /anynonymous?/)

and that form helps us nurture our lives.

The nurturer of any religion or faith is "Mother" or "Nature" or "Farming". Extending this concept, I beleive that there are monks, moms, cats, dogs, or any living being that guides you. You just have to stop texting while in your Rick or in your Cab.

My ammamma says "If you like somebody, take the auto or the bus from Rtc X Roads, go to the Bank, withdraw money and meet them." <that's why public holidays irk me :/>

While I love my Daddy, my Mommy is a hero too and we all share this love-like and it extends upward or spirals downward depending on your or her mood. Mothers listen. Fathers Act on it.

Back to Abhigyan and Nivasini

Nivasini was our former publishing house that was registered and honouring our poets we are restarting it as a learning center and an office for Abhigyan is a Little Adults Publishing House.



What is a Learning Center?

Given the turbulent times and the exams we keep preparing for (irrespective of age), centers and tuition points are not conducive to sit and study and given the current scenario: homes are good.

Our apartments "Mount Santoshi Apartments" (established: 1984 - 85) has been a place for many people from various states to reside and no matter what, people visit it.

We are extending my room as a space for those who want to study and come up. However, there is an application form to be filled. It is residential and the risk is 'ours'

It is a non-commercial activity. My parents and apartment people had to be convinced very hard for this to work.

Book Cafe
With ideas initiated by friends, cousins in Milwaukee and Hyderabad, we are planning to establish a Cafe in Milaukee and in Hyderabad to discuss important issues. Sam, Bhanu and our usual supporters are helping us.

We had a formal discussion at 10D (Begumpet) and we announced another event to formalise the same and also Mom and I are writing a book.

1. The name "Abhigyan" was suggested by Raj Shekhar Sen
2. We are also planning to take up "Abhinay" - a drama space started  by my good friends from Vasavi. Bhanu is helping me.
3. Little Adults was suggested by our first poet to be published: Ishan

Ammamma

Ammamma. The word itself evokes memories for us. Her passing is the passing of a part of our childhood which we (my cousins and I) cherish. This is a piece for her. Ammamma is a telugu word to address mom's mom.  Ammamma lived in Chikkadpally, an area in the older part of Hyderabad, in one of those houses with multiple door entries, many windows in every room, and washroom that’s outside the house. Like Ammamma, the house was open, warm and welcoming. Anyone (whom we know ofcourse) could come inside and stay there as long as they wanted to. This was the 90s and perhaps due to the times we lived in, people were trusting of each other, children grew up in multiple households (grandparents’, aunts’, uncles’..). Nita was born hearing to deaf parents. Living through the challenges of communicating on behalf of her parents with hearing people, After pursuing many things, eventually began working with deaf children. In 2019, she founded Yunikee & Sign Medium, with her husband, Chaithanya, and a friend, Rahul, to make life accessible for 60 million people in the deaf community in the country.
