My Name is Khan - the movie for our times

Shah rukh khan outdoes himself in every movie.  I am a perennial fan who loves and lives by his word. Perhaps the movie 'The Fan' was for idiots like me. 

And My Name is Khan is a perfect example of the prowess of each of the actors. Read about the movie plot here.

But the movie 'The Fan' also has a powerful message:
Fan Banna hai toh kuch banke dikhao 
<if you want to be a fan, "be something" first>

 That hit me very hard.

 Once upon a time, a recruiter asked me:
What are you, without your 'books' 'your family' 'your technology' 

 I replied: nothing. 

 Yes, i am a 'nothing' 
I will be a 'nothing' 

 I am a 'voice' and that will recur everytime, 
a kalki koelchin or an Indira Gandhi or a Menaka Gandhi needs it.

 more than violence against 'holy places' 
there should be a silent mourn in places of 'burgers' and 'pizza' 

 we are commititng suicide by spending money.

 my name is khan is the perfect example of how we as a nation are so eager to blame that we forget the past, present for our own future; we blame and give grief because we cannot handle ourselves. 

In a bizzaro world, things are perfect; things and people are imperfect and that's their beauty. 
why aim for perfection when your flabs. abs and your own chest pants when you walk up two floors after having pizza, ordering from your smart phone.

Ammamma

Ammamma. The word itself evokes memories for us. Her passing is the passing of a part of our childhood which we (my cousins and I) cherish. This is a piece for her. Ammamma is a telugu word to address mom's mom.  Ammamma lived in Chikkadpally, an area in the older part of Hyderabad, in one of those houses with multiple door entries, many windows in every room, and washroom that’s outside the house. Like Ammamma, the house was open, warm and welcoming. Anyone (whom we know ofcourse) could come inside and stay there as long as they wanted to. This was the 90s and perhaps due to the times we lived in, people were trusting of each other, children grew up in multiple households (grandparents’, aunts’, uncles’..). In our household, while there was emphasis on studies, there was emphasis on having fun too – be it watching movies, playing in the gully, studying and going to tuition together, or watching the Sunday Jungle Book together. Nita was born hearing to deaf parents. Living through the challenges of communicating on behalf of her parents with hearing people, After pursuing many things, eventually began working with deaf children. In 2019, she founded Yunikee & Sign Medium, with her husband, Chaithanya, and a friend, Rahul, to make life accessible for 60 million people in the deaf community in the country.
